JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: The Franklin Program Security Support Care Provider I 

Facility: The Franklin Program Residential Facility

Function or purpose of the position 

To provide supervision to the clients of The Franklin Program and to enable them to maintain safe behavior in their home and community; to provide the support and direction necessary to assist the clients in reaching their individual goals. 

Duties that are essential job functions or tasks to the specific position 

  • Attend to the needs of the clients in The Franklin Program 

  • Be familiar with and adhere to agency policies and procedures 

  • Assist in the general care, upkeep, and maintenance of the facility and grounds; keep supervisor informed of any maintenance needs 

  • Cooperate with managers and co-workers on any assignments or program agreed upon; maintain a continuum of services to the clients 

  • Transport clients and supervise individual programs 

  • Possess knowledge of First Aid and CPR procedures 

  • Administer prescribed medications 

  • Be responsible for the humane support of all clients; protect clients from each other and from self-destructive behavior 

  • Maintain an ability to work with a challenging and sometimes physically and/or verbally aggressive population 

  • Be aware of each client’s goals and assist the client in achieving those goals, in the areas of: 

    • Daily Living 

    • Self-Control 

    • Knowledge of personal issues 

    • Anger management 

    • Money management 

    • Employment 

    • Personal hygiene 

    • Cooking/nutrition 

    • Medical care 

    • Refer the client’s sexual issues to the therapist 

Additional duties of importance required of the position

  • Maintain appropriate communication with the agency, the IDT, and other staff, as needed 

  • Assist with the medical or dental concerns of the clients 

  • Attend and participate in workshops, conferences, or in-services, as required 

  • Complete all daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork in an accurate and timely fashion 

  • Ensure compliance with DIDD Rules and Regulations and with the Colorado Sex Offender Management Board Standards and Guidelines, as required 

  • Complete training requirements, as specified by the agency 

  • Perform other duties, as assigned

Other knowledge, skills, and abilities that are necessary when performing the position 

Security Support Care Provider 

  • A minimum of A.A. degree required, or working towards, all types of related training and education will be considered 

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license 

  • Must pass background and motor vehicle checks 

  • One-year experience in residential setting in mental health, criminal justice, and/or developmental disabilities 

  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to work productively in a team-oriented environment 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age 

Physical Demands 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; demonstrate dexterity when handling objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; hear or have the ability to communicate on a verbal basis. The employee must have adequate visual acuity with or without correction and is required to lift heavy weights up to 50 pounds and help with transporting and assisting clients, including lifting them when they need help. The employee is required to travel to meetings, training, agency facilities, and other job-related locations.
